Massey is a true national leader, and one the very few programs doing advanced, National Cancer Institute-funded research in all three areas of radiation oncology study.
More than 35 physicians and scientists serve as faculty within our clinical, medical physics, and molecular radiobiology and targeted imaging divisions. Our capabilities include:
- State-of-the-art linear accelerators that use four dimensional (4D) image-guidance and robotic controls to enable physicians to offer therapies that have never been available before with as much power and precision
- Brachytherapy, in which radioactive sources applied either inside or very close to tumor tissues precisely deliver the radiation and spare healthy tissue
The Department of Radiation Oncology is also committed to the training and education of the next generation of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, cancer biologists and radiation therapists. The Department provides outstanding educational opportunities in each of these areas, with more than 20 trainees currently enrolled in our programs.
